Gold plated jewelry is made by using chemicals & electricity to deposit/bond a very thin layer of gold over another metal (stainless steel in this case). This is a great option for those who want to wear durable jewelry without turning green while still being very cost effective. Please note that stainless steel gold plated is less lustrous than our .925 sterling options
